Engineering with a public purpose
Kaicho Group is based in Kathmandu, Nepal. A team of young engineers builds hardware and automation that improves public infrastructure and community health.
We design Internet of Things systems, printed circuit boards, panel boards and controllers, and smart vending machines. We use 3D printing to prototype quickly.
We also publish plain guides on sanitary pad vending machines and pad disposal, for schools and offices choosing how to provide them.
Mission
To empower Nepal's industry, public bodies and communities with resilient, locally designed technology, and to link engineering with grassroots health awareness.
Vision
A self-reliant, healthier and more technologically advanced Nepal, built on engineering excellence and a social purpose.
How we work
Purpose-driven innovation
We point our engineering at real problems: public services, healthcare access and daily life. We do not build things for their own sake.
Local excellence and self-reliance
We show that good hardware and automation can be researched, designed and made in Nepal, with local supply chains and local engineers.
Social responsibility
Our machines go together with public health work, including outreach in rural areas.
Reliability
We design for unstable power grids and busy public places, with sturdy builds and fail-safe hardware.
Beyond the machines
We run workshops, school programmes and community sessions on:
- Menstrual hygiene management, and breaking taboos with facts
- Antimicrobial resistance and the misuse of antibiotics
- Microbial infections and public sanitation
- The human microbiome, explained for everyday people
